The purpose of this manual is to explain to the observer how to operate the MX Spectrometer for the purpose of observing. The major tasks during observing are to transfer coordinates from the workstation in the control room into the Enterprise Z-80 on the telescope. After coordinates have been transferred, the Enterprise may be commanded to move the probes to the observing positions. MX-specific communications tasks are contained in the ``mxpackage.mxobserve'' package. All CCD functions are controlled separately from the ``ccdacq'' package on the Sun workstation. ``ccdacq'' also provides for remote control of the MX calibration lamps.
