Dear:
The Large Binocular Telescope Observatory (LBTO), on behalf of the Large Binocular Telescope Corporation (LBTC), invites you to submit a proposal for the manufacturing of a thin shell secondary mirror for the LBT. The mirror is intended to be a third scientific quality shell for the two LBT adaptive secondary units. The present Request for Proposal concerns the delivery of the concave, aspheric thin mirror, including the technical coating of its back face and the mirror transportation box. Attached you will find the technical documentation for the components to be manufactured, and the instructions on how to submit the Proposal.
LBTC requires an offer for fixed price and fixed delivery date. The preference is for a delivery in summer 2007 to ADS International, Lecco, Italy. Alternate dates and transfer locations will be considered if proposed.
This RFP will be distributed by electronic mail with a confirming paper copy to follow. Documents supporting this Request for Proposal, technical specifications and drawings may also be found on the World Wide Web at URL:
We request that you please submit a letter (email) of intent to respond to the RFP by March 13 to me at the LBTO address above. We appreciate your interest in the project and look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Richard F. Green
Director, LBT Observatory
