Instruments & Operations

The LBTO is a private telescope operated by an international consortium of institutes and universities located in Italy, Germany, and the United States. Science observing at the LBTO is scheduled in blocks of time allocated to each partner, but the details of accepting proposals and allocating time to specific projects, as well as scheduling observers for their blocks of time are left up to the partners. If you are a member of one of the partner institutes you are eligible to apply for time at the LBT. Procedures and schedules will differ from one partner to another. Please consult the relevant department at your institute for further details on proposing to use the LBT.

Partners in the LBT Project include:

Arizona (UA, ASU, NAU)

Italy (INAF: Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, see this link for member institutes)

Germany (LBTB: LBT Beteiligungsgesellschaft)

The Ohio State University (OSU Astronomy Department)

The Research Corporation (Universities of Minnesota, Notre Dame, and Virginia)
