1. Introduction
The Large Binocular Telescope Project Office (LBTPO), the authorized representative for the LBT Corporation (LBTC), invites proposals for the manufacture of the Rotating Enclosure Gears and Motors for the Large Binocular Telescope Project. The telescope enclosure rotates on four bogies with a total of eight driving wheels. These gearboxes and motors are the units which drive the wheels.
The Supply includes the manufacture of any or all of the items described in the Technical Specification, 301s001, revision A, dated November 5, 1997.

3. Proposal Submittal/Acceptance
Proposals must be submitted so that they are assured to arrive prior
to the deadline. Each proposal, consisting of two paper copies plus
a digital version, shall be received/accepted by the LBTPO in Tucson,
Arizona no later than November 25, 1997, at 5 p.m.
All proposals will be opened privately at owner's discretion, and
evaluated according to the predetermined criteria approved by the LBTC
Board of Directors.

4. Proposal Evaluation
Proposals will be evaluated according to the criteria listed in qualitative order in the table below.

The LBTC reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, to waive irregularities in any proposal, or to withhold the award for any reason it may determine, and also reserves the right to hold any or all proposals for a period of sixty (60) days after the date of opening. LBTC reserves the right to negociate the final terms and conditions with the selected supplier.
